DESCRIPTION

The presence of traditional interpretations is an unavoidable issue in a city like Kyoto, and it is the central question we aim to explore in this project. We have no desire to completely replicate tradition, nor do we wish to completely ignore it. We adopted an approach of integrating the modern into the traditional, so we utilized the most contemporary materials and design language for the renovated sections. Simultaneously, we preserved the logic of the traditional wooden structure and the spatial relationships. This results in an appropriate and harmonious sense of fusion.
